Daily Ag Direction 7/16/25
Good morning!
Positive trading session from overnight with soybeans up 9 cents & corn jumping on the ride up 5, both going into the break near the session highs. Treasury Secretary Bessent provided comfort to the market yesterday saying the Chinese negotiations are “in a very good place” which may have added to the overnight trades optimism. Fall crops are trying to dig their way out of the range of contract lows with a summer heat wave coming next week that is seeing some short covering. President Trump stated he would impose 100% tariffs on Russia if they don’t end the war within the next two months with the market having a mixed reaction on how to trade that news. Wheat did trade up 7 cents at one-point last night but didn’t get the same treatment as it paused this morning down a penny at the break and has since been trading lower.
